Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States seeks a seasoned Federal Construction Manager to lead all phases of government projects, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, and budget. You will coordinate with contractors and the federal client, steering design reviews, safety plans, and progress meetings through closeout.

You will review technical documents and enforce compliance with FAR, safety, and quality standards while mentoring junior staff and promoting best practices. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; 8+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with large Federal construction projects is a plus.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and manage all phases of Federal construction projects to meet scope, budget, and schedule.
• Oversee contractors and on-site personnel ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as primary liaison with federal client’s construction branch and stakeholders.
• Review documents, safety plans, QC plans, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and reports for FAR compliance.
• Lead pre-construction and progress meetings, on-site inspections, and closeout activities; manage punch lists.
• Ensure construction activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Track performance metrics, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor junior staff and promote best practices in construction management.
• Prepare project documentation for submission to federal agencies.
• Promote safety across all project sites; ensure OSHA/USACE compliance.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
