Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Federal Construction Manager to plan, direct, and manage all phases of federal projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with FAR and codes. You will coordinate contractors, lead meetings, and maintain thorough documentation for federal submissions.

Travel may be required; a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience are required, with CCM, PMP, or PMI-CP certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
• 8 years of relevant experience in federal construction projects.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, specs, and inspection requirements, with FAR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and manage all phases of Federal construction projects to ensure successful execution within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Oversee and coordinate activities of contractors, subcontractors, and on-site personnel to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
• Act as liaison between Federal government client’s construction branch, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Review construction documents and ensure alignment with FAR and codes.
• Lead pre-construction conferences, design/progress meetings, inspections, and closeout activities.
• Maintain safety, environmental, and quality standards across sites.
• Track performance metrics, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor and train junior staff on construction management best practices.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation for submission to federal agencies.
