Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at multiple grades with strong base pay and comprehensive federal benefits. The role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, patrolling borders, and using a variety of assets to ensure national security.

Both entry and mid-level candidates may qualify based on education or prior public safety experience. Recruitment and retention incentives are offered, with potential additional location-based bonuses.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make decisions, and remain composed.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR
• A combination of general work experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using diverse assets to fulfill CBP mission.
