Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to protect the United States by detecting and apprehending unlawful entrants and contraband. The BPA role offers progression from entry to mid-level grades with a Base pay scale and strong federal benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• Education substitution: bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers using surveillance and night-vision tools.
• Interpret tracks, evidence, and indicators of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol borders and waterways using varied government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
