Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) for full-time, entry to mid-level positions. Base pay varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-12) with strong federal benefits and possible incentives.

Training and eligibility cover immigration, law enforcement, and nationwide duty locations across the U.S. This role offers competitive benefits and career stability. New BPA recruits may receive recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and additional retention incentives up to $30,000,

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience in challenging, high-stakes environments.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of experience and education used to qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse assets.
