Feature Owner (FO) – Energy Management Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Novi, MI is seeking a Feature Owner (FO) – Energy Management Systems Engineer for a contract role.

Role Objectives:

Champion of 1st principles design methodology in Energy Management Systems, utilizing problem-solving skills in a confidential environment involving Electric Vehicle data.

Develop and maintain best practices, design standards, test procedures, and technical specifications. Lead the design and performance of energy management systems, focusing on vehicle energy consumption and conservation. Develop intelligent energy management strategies to extend EV range and improve efficiency.

Key Focus Areas:

• Energy flow modeling and strategy development
• Predictive energy usage algorithms based on route, terrain, etc.
• Load shedding and prioritization
• Integration with charging systems and powertrain
• Drive mode energy logic

Required Background and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of post-graduation experience
• 3+ years in Electric Vehicle Engineering
• 3+ years in Energy Management within Electric Vehicle Energy Systems
• 5+ years supporting feature development to production
• Experience with end-to-end system delivery and collaboration with stakeholders
• Knowledge of software controls, EE, Electronics, Hardware, and validation methods
• Design of complex mechatronic systems, including specifications and testing
• Experience with model-based design and simulation tools (MBSE/MBD, MIL/SIL/HIL)
• Leading or supporting agile sprint planning and daily standups
