Job summary

Verdantas is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our FDOT Vegetation Maintenance team in the Tampa area. This field-based role involves outdoor work, operating equipment, and supporting transportation and environmental infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include herbicide application, vegetation removal, mowing, and field documentation. Candidate must have a high school diploma and Florida pesticide credentials, be physically fit for outdoor duties, and have reliable

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Florida pesticide applicator credentials required (one of the listed).
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation to Tampa office.

Responsibilities

• Apply herbicides in accordance with product labels, FDOT specifications, and company procedures.
• Perform hand removal, trimming, cutting, mowing, and tree or brush removal.
• Maintain stormwater ponds, wetlands, mitigation areas, ditches, roadside rights-of-way, and transportation corridors.
• Remove trash, debris, and unwanted vegetation; assist with boat work and site access.
• Operate backpack sprayers, UTVs, mowers, trucks, trailers, boats, chainsaws, string trimmers, and other field equipment.
• Load, transport, mix, and handle herbicides safely.
• Complete daily work logs and herbicide application records; document field activities.
• Follow FDOT, OSHA, company safety, and environmental compliance requirements.

Activities include herbicide application, invasive vegetation removal, mowing, trash and debris removal, tree and brush removal, boat work, equipment operation, and field documentation.What You'll Do:Apply herbicides in accordance with product labels, FDOT specifications, and company proceduresPerform hand removal, trimming, cutting, mowing, and tree or brush removalMaintain stormwater ponds, wetlands, mitigation areas, ditches, roadside rights-of-way, and transportation corridorsRemove trash, debris, and unwanted vegetationPerform boat-based field work and assist with safe boat launching, loading, operation, and site accessOperate backpack sprayers, UTVs, mowers, trucks, trailers, boats, chainsaws, string trimmers, and other field equipmentLoad, transport, mix, and handle herbicides safelyIdentify target vegetation and communicate changing site conditionsComplete daily work logs, herbicide application records, and required field documentationFollow FDOT, OSHA, company safety, and environmental compliance requirementsWhat You'll Bring:High school diploma or equivalentMust currently hold at least one of the following Florida pesticide applicator credentials: Aquatic Pest Control Applicator License, Right-of-Way Pest Control Applicator License, Natural Areas Weed Management certification, Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance certification, or Lawn and Ornamental Pest Control certificationStrong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding outdoor workAbility to work safely in hot, humid Florida weather and changing field conditionsAbility to walk long distances over uneven terrain and work around wetlands, ponds, roadsides, and open waterAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and operate a backpack sprayer for extended periodsValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordCandidates must maintain reliable transportation to and from our Tampa office.
