Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a Field Technician to support a range of environmental field projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. You will gain hands-on field experience while contributing to drinking water, groundwater, soil, and air quality projects in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers exposure to diverse site conditions, equipment operation (GPS, data loggers, meters), and safety-focused documentation.

Qualifications

• Outdoor field experience and willingness to work outdoors.
• Experience with field sampling and safety protocols preferred.
• Ability to read project plans and brief construction docs.

Responsibilities

• Install and operate remediation systems and field equipment.
• Oversee subcontractors on various field tasks.
• Complete timely field documentation and reports.
• Perform scheduled tests and inspections according to procedures.

Our Massachusetts and Rhode Island offices are looking for a Field Technician who’s eager to support a variety of field-based projects and grow their career while helping improve environmental and human health.This position offers hands-on field experience, exposure to diverse site conditions, and the opportunity to learn from multidisciplinary teams while building a strong foundation in environmental consulting.Our teams value curiosity, hands‑on experience, and professional development, making Verdantas a place where you can build your skills, grow your career, and feel connected to the purpose behind the work you do.What You'll Do:Install treatment systems and implement remedial technologies to address impacts on drinking water, groundwater, stormwater, soil, sediment, and indoor airMaintain automated remedial systems that utilize air compressors, vacuum blowers, electric and pneumatic pumps, and various filtration media to solve challenging environmental problemsOversee subcontractors performing a variety of tasks including excavation, construction, waste management, and well drillingSample various media, including drinking water, soil, groundwater, concrete, asphalt, surface water, sediment, indoor air, and soil vapor in accordance with standard operating proceduresOperation of various types of field equipment (e.g., GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, oil-water interface meters, etc.) and laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating proceduresOperation and maintenance of remediation systems, including groundwater extraction, soil vapor extraction systems, and chemical injection systemsCompletion of field documentation in a timely manner, such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring, and chain-of-custody formsReview, understand, and interpret project plans, construction plans, and specifications, shop drawings, product data, RFIs, and change ordersPerform scheduled tests, observations, and inspections in accordance with applicable test procedures and project requirementsAssist with field testing to gather data for engineering, hydrogeologic, and scientific evaluationsObserve and document field activities and prepare construction documentation reportsOperate and maintain company vehicles, trailers, and equipmentWhat You Bring:High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate’s Degree, and/or trade school preferred2 to 7 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, public works, a trade (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, construction, etc.), or similarEnvironmental field experience is strongly preferredStrong mechanical skills and troubleshooting aptitude preferredExperience driving large trucks/vans, heavy equipment, and towing trailers is desirableMust be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation, sometimes over substantial distancesMust be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (aka TWIC card)OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and First Aid/CPR training preferredCapable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environmentMust have a valid driver’s licenseMust have own vehicle to travel to and from work sitesSalary Range:The compensation range for this position is $25/hr - $30/hr, with final compensation determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and licensing status.Benefits:Flexible Work EnvironmentPaid Parental LeaveMedicalDentalVisionLife and AD&D InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off + HolidaysVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
