Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a motivated Scientist II to join the Environmental Services team in the Lehigh Valley, PA. You will support a range of transportation, infrastructure, and environmental compliance projects across Pennsylvania, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver permitting, NEPA review, and regulatory support.

You will perform wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and field surveys while preparing technical reports and permit applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
• 2–4 years of environmental consulting experience.
• Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects.
• Knowledge of PA environmental regulations and NEPA processes.
• Strong writing, communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and support environmental permitting efforts.
• Support PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Prepare environmental documentation and NEPA compliance activities.
• Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and natural resource investigations.

• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory correspondences.

In this role, you will support a variety of transportation, infrastructure, and environmental compliance projects throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality environmental permitting, natural resource investigations, and regulatory compliance services for our clients.

What You'll Do:

• Conduct and support environmental permitting efforts
• Support PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects and associated environmental compliance requirements
• Prepare environmental documentation and support NEPA environmental clearance activities
• Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and natural resource investigations
• Perform field surveys and support threatened and endangered species investigations, including bat and bog turtle habitat assessments
• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory correspondences
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project managers, and clients
• Support fieldwork, data collection, and environmental compliance monitoring activities
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, planners, and permitting specialists across Verdantas

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, or a related scientific field
• 2 to 4 years of relevant environmental consulting experience
• Experience supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects
• Knowledge of Section 404 permitting, Chapter 105 permitting, and environmental regulations applicable within Pennsylvania
• Experience with NEPA documentation and environmental review processes
• Familiarity with wetland delineations, natural resource investigations, and field data collection
• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Salary:

The starting salary for this position is $63,000, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and licensing status.
