Job summary

DHL Express is hiring a Customs Entry Agent in the United States to ensure compliance with federal regulations governing shipment documentation and entry processing. You will compute tariffs, review invoices and shipping statements, and coordinate with US Customs to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to obtain a SIDA badge. Overtime may be required and prior customs experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; an Associate degree is preferred.
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year of transportation or customs experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry.
• Strong oral and written communication; problem solving and interpersonal skills; accurate and courteous.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge and pass security checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Classify dutiable import/export shipments to ensure government compliance.
• Process requests for extensions, expiration, cancellations and all government entries.
• Communicate with origin/destination locations about shipment status and handling procedures.
• Obtain Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintain communication with the department of foreign affairs as needed.
• Review documents to determine correct Harmonized Tariff Codes for proper classification.
