Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Fastener Application Engineer to join the automotive manufacturing client’s team in Auburn Hills, MI (Onsite). The role focuses on supporting product design, validation, and problem resolution for fastener joints, ensuring proper torque, testing, and design improvements.

The candidate will conduct joint reviews, validate methods, and develop tightening strategies while collaborating with engineers to deliver robust, safe, and high-performance assemblies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in fastener engineering, fastener joint design, or related role.
• Strong knowledge of fastener materials, coatings, joint design, torque development, testing methods, and installation techniques.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, joint cross-sections, material specifications, test data, and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with ability to work independently onsite.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite technical support for fastener joint design, validation, testing, and problem resolution.
• Conduct joint reviews and recommend appropriate fasteners, torque specs, testing, and design improvements.
• Determine validation methods, including torque-to-failure, torque-to-yield, torque-tension, clamp-load, ultrasonic tests.
• Develop and evaluate tightening strategies: dynamic torque, residual torque, audit torque, torque-angle, and angle-controlled apps.
• Review work orders, coordinate lab testing, analyze results, and provide documented recommendations.
