Our client, an industry leader in automotive manufacturing, is seeking a Fastener Application Engineer to join their team. As a Fastener Application Engineer, you will be part of the engineering support team supporting product design, validation, and problem resolution.
Job Title: Fastener Application Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan (Onsite)
Pay Range: $30 per hour
What's the Job?
Provide onsite technical support for fastener joint design, validation, testing, and problem resolution.
Conduct joint reviews and recommend appropriate fasteners, torque specifications, testing requirements, and design improvements.
Determine appropriate validation methods, including torque-to-failure, torque-to-yield, torque-tension, clamp-load, ultrasonic, and other applicable fastener tests.
Develop and evaluate tightening strategies, including dynamic torque, residual torque, minimum audit torque, torque-angle, and angle-controlled applications.
Review fastener work orders, coordinate laboratory testing, analyze results, and provide documented technical recommendations.
What's Needed?
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of three to five years of experience in fastener engineering, fastener joint design, or a related technical role.
Strong knowledge of fastener materials, coatings, joint design principles, torque development, testing methods, and installation techniques.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, joint cross-sections, material specifications, test data, and applicable technical standards.
Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and provide effective onsite technical support.
