Job summary

Habitat Omaha is seeking a Homeownership Housing Counselor – Short-Term Services to provide personalized coaching and financial education. You will work with clients toward mortgage readiness, creating action plans and guiding them through the homebuying process.

The role emphasizes counseling, education, and coordination with mortgage teams and community partners to support clients in achieving affordable homeownership.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years in housing counseling or related field.
• Experience with diverse clients and individualized support preferred.
• HUD housing counseling experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one housing counseling for short-term homeownership goals.
• Assess income, expenses, debt, credit, savings, and mortgage readiness.
• Create personalized action plans to reach homeownership in about 12 months.
• Conduct follow-up sessions to monitor progress and adjust plans.
• Collaborate with Habitat Omaha teams and partners to support clients.
