Job summary

H2ajobs is hiring for a farmworker to attend to cattle, feed, water, load, and transport cattle, with daily herd checks and potential calving assistance. You will maintain fences and equipment, monitor health, and keep records as needed.

Must be at least 18, physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs, and willing to work in varying weather conditions. Housing and meals are provided, with transportation options to and from work.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Experience with farm animals preferred (2 months stated).
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must be able to work in variable weather conditions.
• Must obtain a valid US Driver's License within 2 weeks of reporting and maintain a clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Attend to cattle, including feeding, watering, loading, and transporting.
• Check herd daily, sometimes multiple times daily in cold months.
• Maintain and repair cattle equipment, pens, yards, and fences.
• Monitor cattle health, assist calving and weaning, administer medications as appropriate.
• Keep records on cattle and monitor overall wellbeing.

Job description

Duties may include: Attend to cattle. Duties may include feeding, watering, loading, and transporting cattle. Check on herd daily, sometimes multiple times per day during the cold winter months. Check water, haul feed and hay. May maintain records on cattle; examine cattle to detect diseases or injuries; assist in calving and weaning; administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. Maintain and repair cattle equipment, pens, yards, and fences. Monitor health and wellbeing of the cattle. 60 minute meal break & other related Farmworker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate. See attached Addendum C.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Depending on housing location, worker may have a kitchen available for use. In that case, The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections. All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food. Otherwise, 3 meals per day will be provided to those workers who do not have access to free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities (all workers who are residing in public accommodations). All meals will include a daily source of protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) and (b) from the pl... Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone.
