Job summary

Hi-Rise seeks a Farmers Market Associate to support multiple weekly markets around Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. The role covers pre-market packing, driving the market van, and on-site setup and breakdown with strong customer service.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in all weather, and commit to the full market season from late May through Thanksgiving. Prior market/vendor experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• A passion for Hi-Rise’s products and for the value of farmers markets and the community of market vendors.
• Ability to thrive while working independently.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate market vans in urban/suburban settings.
• Lift up to 50 pounds, including one-person market tent setup.
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work shifts longer than 10 hours.
• Commitment to a full market season from early May through Thanksgiving.
• Experience with market work at a farm or food service vendor preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Pre-market preparation: product packing, inventory checks, and loading the market van
• Driving: drive the market van to the market site
• Setup: unload van, set up tent, tables, displays, and products
• Front-line market work: provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating knowledge of all market products
• Breakdown and return to bakery: pack market tent, tables, displays, and products, drive back to the bakery, unpack the van and complete some setup for the next day's market
