Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load food items and supplies for farmer's markets.

Job description

Position Overview:

As a Marketeer you will be responsible for loading and driving our vans from our production kitchen to assigned Atwater's farmers markets in Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. This role combines delivery driving, strength and customer service to ensure our fresh, locally made foods and baked goods arrive safely and are presented well throughout the market day. You must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be comfortable working in various weather conditions. It is mandatory to keep the vehicle clean and safe, work efficiently with others and independently. You'll represent Atwater's by providing courteous, friendly customer service and maintaining a welcoming and organized market stand. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, comfortable selling to customers, and interested in learning about our ingredients and products in order to answer questions and recommend items. Shift hours vary between: 4am - 5pm.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

• Load food items and supplies required to take to the farmer's market.
• Drive company vehicle to assigned market location.
• Unload the vehicle and set up the Atwater's market stall.
• Ensure food items are labeled, displayed, and presented correctly.
• Sell products to customers and provide accurate change at checkout.
• Answer customer questions and recommend products when appropriate.
• Ensure food items and presentation meet health department standards and safe work practices.
• Keep the market stall stocked, clean, organized, and inviting throughout the market day.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.

Qualifications:

• Ability to drive a 20 ft Box Truck (must submit a clean driving record from MVA).
• Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of ingredient information and products of Atwater's.
• Ability to perform physical requirements: lift loads not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. rush hours, holidays, adverse conditions)
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Markets are year-round, rain or shine.

Experience:

Delivery, retail, or farmers' market experience preferred.

Compensation:

$19/hr starting rate, pay will be compensatory with skill level

Example of a Market Shift :

5:30 am Arrive at the bakery, load up the van, collect market supplies

6:00 am Leave bakery, drive to market location

7:15 am Arrive at the market location, unload, set up a market stand

9:00 am Market opens: Interact with customers, complete sales, keep the market stand stocked and presentable

1:00 pm Pack upmarket stand, inventory product returns

1:15 pm Leave market, drive back to the bakery

2:30 pm Arrive at the bakery, unload the van, return supplies, complete paperwork

3:00 pm Market shift ends
