Hours: 6-10 hrs per shift, 1-4 shifts/week, 1-2 shifts/weekend, seasonal or annual full time
Primary Job Function
The Farmers Market Lead (FM Lead) role is a sales and customer service position with onsite management responsibilities. FM Leads typically start and end their shift at Agriberry Farm in Hanover to load/unload and transport/return products and materials for their assigned market. At market, FM Leads are responsible for completing and/or managing Farmers Market Associates in completing the following tasks: set‑up and breakdown, sales and distribution of Agriberry products, record keeping for farmers markets and/or CSA sites, on‑site communications with market managers, and providing a quality experience to coworkers and customers.
Responsibilities
- Load product and material: Safely and strategically loads van for market deployment using resources provided, including but not limited to checklists, communications from CSA & Market Manager, CSA and market reports
- Lead staff onsite: Manage Farmers Markets Associates in all aspects of the market, including but not limited to efficiently delegating tasks, retraining or redirecting staff when necessary, supporting staff with challenging customer interactions, and modeling exceptional customer service
- Market set up and tear down: Site set‑up, maintenance, and breakdown, including but not limited to setting up tables, canopies, displays, writing and/or positioning accurate signs and banners, and making the market site ready with appealing product displays that facilitate an efficient sales flow
- Sell Agriberry Farm products: Provides premium sales service to all customers while on site at any Farmers Market or pop‑up, including product knowledge, actively engaged presence, and personable interactions
- Distribute Agriberry Farm CSA shares: Accurately assembles and distributes CSA shares [May-October, weekday only], conveys familiarity and gratitude to CSA members
- Data Recording: Maintains accurate data pertaining to assigned markets and promptly reports them to CSA & Market Manager weekly using established systems
- Unload product and material: Safely and accurately unloads van contents and returns them to their assigned locations upon returning from market
- Participate in Agriberry Farm training: Attends meetings and trainings to maintain knowledge of weekly share contents, produce sources, seasonal availability, growing methods, and fruit quality standards. Responds to weekly messages about market and process updates.

- Experience in agriculture, food industry, human services, sales, or marketing
- Passion for local agriculture

- Work in a fast paced environment independently and collaboratively
- Successfully pass a background check and other pre‑employment screening
Physical
- Present professionally and positively in a sales representative position
- Bend, kneel, slide, shuffle, push, and pull 30-50 lbs safely and independently
- Work in extreme temperatures and/or weather safely while maintaining a good attitude
- Stand and maintain attention for shift entirety
- Safely operate large vehicles with varying load sizes
Preferred Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
- Experience managing staff members is preferred but not required
- Available to work at early hours on the weekend and evening hours during the week
- Accurate and quick basic mental math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, discount calculation)
