Job description

Farm Supply and Forecasting Intern

Summer Internship 2027: May 31st, 2027 - August 20th, 2027

Location – Low Hybrid

This is a hybrid role, which means that you will have the flexibility to work both onsite and at a distance. You will collaborate onsite at our La Farge, WI office for 3-5 days per week, and the rest of the time you can choose to work remotely or onsite.

Summary of Role

The Farm Supply and Forecasting Intern will support the Pools Forecasting and Analytics department by assisting with special projects that improve supply visibility, forecast accuracy, and decision-making across farm supply planning. This role will contribute to projects such as building out and finalizing the egg supply forecast, refining AI-enabled comparative tools used for forecast validation, organizing data inputs, documenting processes, and preparing clear analytical summaries for department and cross-functional stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Forecasting & Supply Analysis
  • Support the build out, validation, and finalization of the egg supply forecast, including data collection, organization, quality checks, assumption documentation, and forecast output review.
  • Gather, clean, and summarize farm supply, production, and forecast data to support department projects and recurring analytical needs.
  • Partner with department team members to understand forecasting processes, business requirements, data sources, and stakeholder needs.
Data Analytics & Technology Improvement:
  • Assist with the continued refinement of the AI comparative tool used for forecast validation.
  • Test forecast outputs, compare results to established forecasting methodologies, identify discrepancies, and document improvement opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards, worksheets, reports, and summary materials that communicate project status, key findings, risks, and recommendations.
Process Documentation & Knowledge Management:
  • Document project workflows, data assumptions, validation steps, and process recommendations to support long-term department use and knowledge transfer.
  • Create and maintain documentation that supports consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement of forecasting processes.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in department meetings, project check-ins, and cross-functional discussions as appropriate.
  • Prepare final project summaries, presentations, or recommendations that can be shared with department leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized project files, supporting documentation, and analysis materials for future reference.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education with one year or less from graduation required.
  • Currently working towards a degree in agriculture, agricultural business, economics, analytics, data science, supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Coursework or experience in data analysis, forecasting, statistics, agriculture, supply chain, or business analytics preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with detailed data sets, identify trends, and summarize findings clearly.
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs required; experience with Excel, Power BI, or other reporting and analysis tools preferred.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, data validation, forecasting tools, or process improvement preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Interest in organic agriculture, farm supply planning, cooperative business models, and working with farmer-focused data preferred.

Base hourly wage range: $20.00 per hour

Hours per week: 40 hours
