Job summary

The City of Fort Wayne seeks a Program Coordinator for Salomon Farm Park to lead educational programs, manage farm operations, and supervise staff. This full‑time, outdoors‑focused role requires hands‑on leadership, event planning, and interaction with visitors.

Responsibilities include developing programs, coordinating the Salomon Farmers' Market, training staff, livestock care, and promoting activities through photos and social media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in outdoor recreation, education, agriculture, environmental studies, or related field.
• At least one year of paid supervisory experience in outdoor recreation, education, farm, or similar setting.
• Two years of experience developing programs, preparing lesson plans or instructions, and working directly with the public.
• Strong organization, communication, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage changing priorities.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and learn livestock handling and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead educational programs, Farm Camp, special events, wagon rides, facility rentals, and other community activities.
• Manage the Salomon Farmers' Market and track program attendance, revenue, expenses, supplies, and equipment.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise 6–20 seasonal employees, part‑time staff, volunteers, and contractual workers.
• Assist with livestock care, pasture and pen maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial work, and the safe operation of tractors, farm equipment, and tools.
• Communicate with visitors, rental customers, staff, volunteers, and community partners while promoting programs via photos and social media.
