Job summary

Champlain Valley Equipment in St. Albans, Vermont is seeking a full-time Equipment Salesperson to join our team.

The role combines in-store and field duties to build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, municipalities, homeowners, and construction professionals. You will promote agricultural and light construction equipment, demonstrate products, provide quotes and terms, and coordinate deliveries, while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining professional appearance

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Promote and sell agricultural, light construction, and other equipment to new and existing customers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers by understanding their needs and recommending suitable products.
• Demonstrate equipment features and answer questions regarding products, pricing, availability, and credit terms.
• Prepare and present price quotes, sales contracts, and order forms; negotiate contract details and payment terms.
• Follow up with clients after sales to provide support and resolve any issues.
• Identify prospective customers through business directories, referrals, networking, and participation in industry events.
• Conduct cold calls and on-site visits to current and potential customers.
• Monitor market trends, product innovations, and competitor offerings.
• Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining sales records, preparing reports, and managing expense accounts.
• Coordinate equipment set-up and deliveries with the service department.
• Train customers employees on the operation and maintenance of new equipment as needed.
• Attend training sessions as required by vendors and the company.
• Maintain a clean and professional work area and company vehicle, including daily call logs and mileage records.
