Job summary

BILINGUAL PREVENTION & ADVOCACY SPECIALIST

Overview

This position is responsible for providing individual advocacy, group support, and education for survivors of domestic violence in English and Spanish. Must demonstrate a commitment to serving and working with diverse populations. The role also includes participating in outreach activities to inform the community about prevention efforts, the dynamics of domestic violence, and Family Tree services.

Recruiting and Retention Bonus

Hiring bonus of $300 paid on the first paycheck. Retention bonus of $500 after 12 months and $700 after 18 months.

Example Activities
  • Engage all Family Tree programs to connect clients with effective services.
  • Provide advocacy, individual and group support, and education for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Assist survivors with in‑depth safety planning and increase awareness of community resources.
  • Complete client documentation and required statistics in a timely manner.
  • Continuously learn about agency and community resources, domestic violence dynamics, teen dating violence prevention, trauma‑informed care, and other topics relevant to clients served by the Outreach Program.
  • Coordinate and staff cases with the Outreach Program Director and Program Staff.
  • Answer outreach program phone/email, assess needs, offer interventions, safety planning, and referrals; return calls for survivors and partners.
  • Assess walk‑in needs, schedule intakes, or provide appropriate referrals.
  • Assist in training/new staff, volunteers, and interns on the Domestic Violence Outreach Program.
  • Represent Family Tree at networking events, prepare and present community workshops, and cultivate a growing network of community partnerships.
Required Skills
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, trauma‑informed practices, and basic mental health issues.
  • Experience with social justice issues—gender‑based violence, privilege, oppression, and systemic inequalities.
  • Understanding of teen dating violence prevention.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking experience.
  • Basic computer competency.
  • Commitment to serving diverse populations.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with survivors of domestic violence (preferred).

Location: Porchlight Family Justice Center, 11100 W 8th Ave Suite 200, Lakewood, CO 80215

Program: Domestic Violence Outreach Program

Status: Full‑time

Hourly Pay Rate: $21.46–$25.75 + $1.50 bilingual differential

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, retirement plan and match, employer‑paid long‑term disability, EAP, wellness program, paid sick and vacation time.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within the Denver Metro area for off‑site meetings.

Schedule: Monday‑Friday, flexible based on client needs with some evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions: Reliable transportation required. Hybrid remote and in‑office arrangement at the PorchLight Family Justice Center and community partner sites (Adams County, Jefferson County).
