Job summary

The Family Tree, Inc. is seeking a part-time advocate to support shelter residents and families facing domestic violence and homelessness. You will provide crisis intervention, counseling, and help with housing navigation, benefits, referrals, and life skills.

Proficiency in English and Spanish is required. You will document interactions in Salesforce HMIS and coordinate with partner agencies. The role is in-office, 20 hours per week, with Friday and Saturday evening shifts; reliable

Responsibilities

  • Provide advocacy, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution to households who have experienced domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Maintain confidentiality of shelter, employees, and client information per Family Tree policies.
  • Assist residents with housing navigation, benefits, educational/vocational referrals, financial empowerment, and life skills.
  • Promptly enter documentation into Salesforce, HMIS, and other tracking systems; support monthly grant reporting.
  • Complete documentation for clients' interactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Follow up on applications for services and complete intakes of new clients.
  • Communicate with partner agencies and other professionals as needed to better service clients.
  • Serve as a support to volunteers, interns, and other staff; coordinate with Program Director for materials.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish required
  • Ability to provide advocacy, crisis intervention, conflict resolution to households who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness.
  • Maintain confidentiality of shelter, employees, and client information per Family Tree policies.
  • Basic knowledge of domestic violence and the impact on survivors and/or children
  • Assist residents with housing navigation, benefits acquisition, educational/vocational referrals, financial empowerment, behavioral/health referrals, goal setting, life skills and the establishment of a personal support network
  • Promptly enter documentation and information into our Salesforce database, HMIS, and other respective tracking systems as required; maintain documentation and data needed for monthly grant reporting
  • Complete documentation for clients' interactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Follow up with applications for services and complete intakes of new clients
  • Communicate with partner agencies and other professionals as needed and when necessary to better service clients
Other Duties
  • Adhere to Family Tree's Continuous Improvement Practice of completing client support tools and sending feedback and post-exit surveys to clients according to Family Tree's standards
  • Serve as a support to volunteers, interns, and other staff while at Family Tree shelters
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Program Director for materials and items needed
Working Environment
  • This is an in-office position, PART-TIME, 20-hour-a-week position.
  • Friday and Saturday 12pm to 10pm.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation daily
  • The shelter is staffed at times, operates 24/7, and 365 days a year. This position schedule includes afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. This is a Part-time, 20-hour-a-week position. The schedule may vary according to the needs of the program and applicants and employees are expected to maintain flexible schedules for this position.
Physical Activities

Sitting/standing for long periods. Talking, hearing (ordinary conversation). Seeing (reading the paperwork, computer screen work, etc.). Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers and telephones.

  • Digital Literacy- Ability to find, evaluate and communicate information by utilizing typing and digital media platforms like Microsoft Suite Programs and search engines.
  • Resourcefulness- Knowledge of and ability to navigate Metro Denver area community resources; an understanding of voucher administration and Medicaid billing processes.
