Job summary

Abilities Network is seeking a Family Support Specialist to support our Healthy Families team in Towson, MD. The role delivers in-home and virtual family-centered, strength-based services designed to strengthen parent-child relationships and improve family functioning.

This is a full-time position with a non-negotiable base pay of $18.00/hour and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision, life/AD&D, retirement, FSA, PTO, tuition reimbursement, and an employee referral

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Family and Children’s Services or related field; three years home visitation or experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Experience with family services that embrace the concept of family centered principle and strength based service provision.
• Experience in serving culturally diverse communities/families is required.
• Transportation necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate program enrollment, including assessments to evaluate family history of past and present trauma and areas that are under-resourced.
• Provide family-centered, strength-based interventions directed at establishing a trusting relationship in order to optimize parent child relationships.
• Connect families to community resources through referrals and education.
• Utilize a research-based curriculum to facilitate age appropriate interaction between parent and child.
• Guide families through the steps of setting and working towards goals.
• Plan and participate in Healthy Families special events.
