Job summary

Abilities Network in Towson, MD is seeking a Family Support Specialist to support our Healthy Families team. This role provides in-home and virtual family-centered, strength-based services designed to strengthen parent-child relationships and improve family functioning.

The position offers a base pay of $18.00/hour non-negotiable, full-time status, and the opportunity to work within a growing nonprofit that prioritizes culture and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Family and Children’s Services or related field is required.
• Three years of home visitation or equivalent experience with families.
• Experience with family-centered, strength-based service provision.
• Experience serving culturally diverse communities is required.
• Transportation is required to fulfill duties.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate program enrollment and assess family history and needs.
• Provide family-centered, strength-based interventions to strengthen relationships.
• Connect families to community resources via referrals and education.
• Use a research-based curriculum to support parent-child interactions.
• Guide families in setting and pursuing goals.
• Plan and participate in Healthy Families events.

Requirements

What will I do at Abilities Network?

• Facilitate program enrollment, including assessments to evaluate family history of past and present trauma and areas that are under-resourced
• Provide family-centered, strength-based interventions directed at establishing a trusting relationship in order to optimize parent child relationships
• Connect families to community resources through referrals and education
• Utilize a research-based curriculum to facilitate age appropriate interaction between parent and child
• Guide families through the steps of setting and working towards goals
• Plan and participate in Healthy Families special events

What does Abilities Network need from me?

• Bachelor’s degree required in Family and Children’s Services or related field. Three years home visitation or experience working with families accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience with family services that embrace the concept of family centered principle and strength based service provision.
• Experience in serving culturally diverse communities/families is required.
• Transportation necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
