Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a Parent Educator within its Community Outreach team. This grant-funded position focuses on engaging families, connecting them with resources, and coordinating care with other providers to address developmental needs of children.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience in human services, with emphasis on family support and group work. Bilingual Spanish is preferred, and transportation is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor Degree required.
• One year in human services or equivalent; home-visiting experience and group work preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, professional experience with children and families in crisis, cultural sensitivity, knowledge of community resources. Experience running groups and providing 1:1 services.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred
• Own reliable transportation is required

Responsibilities

• Interview families in the home or in the office to discuss their willingness and appropriateness to participate in Parenting Support Services
• Obtain information about child rearing practices, budgeting, lifestyle issues and social interests
• Educate families about parenting, budgeting, community resources, home environment, advocacy, healthy relationships and other relevant topics
• Explain the parameters of the program including purposes, functions, and limitations with client in client's environment
• Review progress with family, Parenting Support Services Supervisor/Manager and assigned DCF Worker to revise goals as needed
