Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital is seeking a Parent Educator to support families through home and office visits, focusing on parenting education and connecting families with community resources. The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration with case managers and DCF workers.

The position is grant funded, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 40 hours, and the potential to work at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required.
• One year in human services or equivalent; home-visiting experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, knowledge of community resources.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred.
• Own reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

• Interview families in their home or office to discuss participation in Parenting Support Services.
• Obtain information about child rearing practices, budgeting, lifestyle issues and social interests.
• Educate families about parenting, budgeting, community resources, home environment, advocacy, healthy relationships and related topics.
• Explain program parameters and limitations to the client in their environment.
• Review progress with the family and supervisor to revise goals as needed.
