Job summary

All For Kids in Santa Ana seeks a Family Support Counselor to empower families and strengthen communities. The role offers $27/hour pay and focuses on in-home and community support for children and families.

You will deliver group education, provide case management, and connect families with community resources while working in a multi-cultural setting. This is a community-driven nonprofit opportunity in Southern California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services/Behavioral Sciences from an accredited University or equivalent on-the-job experience
• Two+ years of experience with children and families and/or parenting; outreach to low-income, moderate/high-risk families
• Knowledge of child development and community resources desirable
• Ability to use diagnostic skills to make assessments
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Good organizational, follow-through, and verbal/written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Implement a community-based prevention effort for families
• Provide in-home and virtual visits using Parents as Teachers curriculum
• Provide group parent education classes and Group Connection classes
• Provide case management and link families with community resources
• Provide PAT curriculum, assessments, and screenings to assigned families
• Teaching and modeling parenting skills
• Provide participant support and education
• Develop 'parent leaders' for Group Connection classes
• Set SMART Goals and provide resource connections to assigned families
• Assist families in crisis with shelter, childcare, health care, and other services through referrals
• Provide basic preventative health information and budgeting/home organization guidance
• Maintain knowledge of community resources and assist families in reaching them
• Advocate for participants with Cal-Works, Medi-Cal, and other systems
• Translate materials for participants and the agency when needed
• Attend community meetings and weekly Case Management Meetings
• Maintain records, case files, notes, and statistics
• Meet PAT and ongoing case management requirements
• Maintain relationships with individuals and agencies impacting the program
• Support the Program Supervisor in developing community outreach programs
• Maintain confidentiality and positive communication with staff, participants, and volunteers
• Exercise good judgment and uphold agency policies and mission

• Attending community meetings, agency collaboration meetings, and weekly Case Management Meetings as assigned
• Maintaining records, case files, notes, work and activity documentation, statistics, and other required documentation
• Meeting PAT and ongoing comprehensive case management requirements
• Maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and agencies impacting the program
• Assisting the Program Supervisor with developing and implementing community outreach programs
• Maintaining confidentiality and positive communication with agency staff, participants, and volunteers
• Exercising good judgment and supporting existing agency policies, principles, and mission
