Job summary

Victor Community Support Services seeks a compassionate Family Support Counselor to assist youth and families within residential and community-based programs. Under supervision, you will provide support services, referrals, advocacy, and case management, while engaging families with empathy and maintaining clear boundaries.

The role requires documentation, teamwork with treatment teams, and the ability to adapt to a flexible schedule. Training and mentorship are provided to help you succeed.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree. No previous experience required.
  • 60 units of college, or four years’ experience, or Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and family support services per individualized plans.
  • Engages clients with appropriate boundaries and builds rapport.
  • Maintains flexible community-based schedule.
  • Completes documentation per agency standards (forms, notes, mileage).
  • Acts as liaison with community agencies and resources.
  • Meets service percentage targets and completes assigned tasks.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Family SupportCounselor has responsibility for providing support services toindividuals and families as identified in the designated program and/or individualized plan.Services apply to youth in 24-hour residential treatment and/or consumer/clients incommunity based programs.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides individual and family support services in accordance with the individualizedplans. Services may include: providing referrals, advocacy and support to individualsand families (clients), linkage and case management services, support groups,educational services and support, transportation, home management assistance,recreational activities, and behavioral interventions and management, etc.
  • Able to effectively engage and develop relationships with appropriate boundaries withassigned clients.
  • Effectively manages a flexible community-based schedule.
  • Completes all required documentation according to Agency and program standardswithin required time constraints. These may include: client contact forms, CANS,service activity summaries, data tracking, daily progress notes for all mental healthservices provided, mileage documentation, and other administrative duties, etc.
  • Is an active member of assigned treatment teams. Assumes assigned responsibilitywithin the team in accordance to program needs which may include operatingeffectively within a Teaming Model and act as a liaison with other community agenciesand resources.
  • Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients,if applicable.
  • Completes other assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisorydirectives.
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree. No previous experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience providing direct care services to children and families in a mental health or social services setting.
  • 60 units of college, or four years’ experience, or Bachelors’ degree.
  • Skills with regard to engaging and working with parents as partners and in working successfully with a strength-based approach.
  • Crisis and case management experience is helpful and desired.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience working with the public and government agencies.
Position/Program Requirements:
  • Must possess a reliable mode of transportation to travel to assigned client homes, schools, offices, etc. If personal vehicle is the mode of transportation, must meet Agency’s driving requirements.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency's PersonnelPolicy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must be willing to complete aTuberculosis (TB) and drug screening test.
  • Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by theState of California.
Compensation:
  • Pay Range: $22.59/per hour - $31.05/per hour (actual salary is dependent on verification of applicable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role)
  • Additional $1.00 - $3.00 per hour for Education
  • Additional $1.92 per hour for Bilingual in Spanish
