Job summary

Easterseals Southern California is seeking a Family Services Specialist to coordinate Head Start enrollment and strengthen family engagement. You will recruit eligible families, complete intake, and connect families with community resources while supporting staff with eligibility and documentation requirements.

Role requires experience with Head Start standards, California education and social services regulations, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience working with diverse families of very young children or equivalent training/education.
• Must possess or obtain credential/certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field within 18 months of tenure.
• Must possess and maintain current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate.
• Must possess a food handler's certificate.
• Must complete California-mandated training (Child Abuse Reporter Training and Pesticide Safety Training).

Responsibilities

• Conducts recruitment activities to find eligible families and completes intake and enrollment.
• Completes paperwork per Title V and Head Start standards; maintains caseload and tracks data.
• Coordinates family/school partnerships; develops Family Partnership Agreements and goals with families.
• Mentors staff on eligibility, enrollment documentation, and Head Start standards.
• Ensures Family and Community engagement services align with Head Start policies and procedures.
• Identifies resources for families in mental health, child care, education, health, transportation, etc.
• Coordinates parent education and prenatal resources for pregnant women.
• Completes family strengths and needs assessments within required timelines; assists with parent meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
