Job summary

San Diego Center for Children seeks a Parent Partner/Peer Support Specialist I to provide therapeutic support to families in wraparound teams and meetings. The position focuses on collaboration with all team members and community partners, averaging a caseload of 10–12 families.

Responsibilities include advocacy and crisis assistance within a family-centered framework. The role requires strong communication, cultural competence, and ability to work evenings.

Qualifications

• Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience as a consumer or caregiver of Children’s Behavioral Health Services or related systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide education, advocacy, crisis intervention, case management, rehabilitation, and other therapeutic services in a community-based fashion.
• Utilize supervision and training to deliver high quality services to families, including parenting curriculum and wraparound.
• Locate and coordinate diverse resources and networks for families in their communities.
• Share personal experiences to enhance engagement while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Coordinate treatment with schools, psychiatrists, support groups and other partners as needed.
