Job summary

Mercy Center Ministries Inc. seeks a Program Director/Case Manager for its family shelter to provide comprehensive leadership and case management for residents.

The role encompasses supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state requirements, and coordinating services to move families toward permanent housing. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field with NYS licensure, references, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field with NYS license.
• Two letters of recommendation from unrelated individuals.
• Experience in program management, supervision and homeless services.
• Clearance from the central register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to climb stairs daily.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall supervision of staff at the 4-unit mother/child shelter and deliver professional services to residents.
• Develop procedures and direction for agency programs in consultation with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
• Ensure Shelter operations and compliance using SOAR, HMIS and DSS AWARDS when available.
• Develop partnerships with community agencies to link residents to services.
• Maintain relationships with town officials, neighbors and first responders; deliver 24/7 on-call coverage.
• Schedule staffing and evaluate shelter staff; implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure staff training per OTDA/DSS requirements; conduct monthly safety drills.
• Coordinate housing options, crisis management and client move-to-permanent housing plans.
• Oversee admissions, ILP, housing applications, and exit planning; maintain confidentiality.
