Job summary

Carter Lard Consulting seeks a Program Director for Homeless Services serving families with children in New York. The role oversees daily operations and social services management across shelter sites, ensuring 24/7 quality service per DHS standards.

Responsibilities include training and supervising shelter staff, coordinating with leadership, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant client communications while advancing housing placement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in supervision or management.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a residential agency or DHS licensed facility.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to interact with diverse populations with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Vet, train, oversee daily operations and contract compliance or reporting for shelter.
• Collaborate with Senior Leadership to vet, credential, equip/supply, and conduct training for shelter personnel in providing shelter support that is culturally competent for all guests.
• Flexible hours are required – with the need for 24/7 emergency availability rotating with team members.
• Improve programs and processes to build systems of finding permanent housing.
• Maintain standards of HIPAA compliance with all client communications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of shelter operations and regulatory changes.
• Ensure charts and recording systems meet DHS, OTDA and other regulatory standards.
