Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of full-time equivalent experience in operation and management of before/after school programs.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain satisfactory driving record; background checks required.

  • Ensure programs remain aligned with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Represent the department on committees, boards, focus groups, community events, conferences, and workshops.

The City of Hampton is seeking an experienced and motivatedSchool Age Program Manager to provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of our School Age Programs. This position manages program operations, staff, budgets, resources, and service quality while building strong partnerships that support high-quality before- and after-school care for children and families throughout the City of Hampton.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time equivalent experience in the operation and management of before/after school programs, financial accounting and budgeting experience, direct human services delivery, and training to include the supervision of others or closely related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services Check and background checks related to the position before any offer of employment or promotion.
Additonal Requirments:
  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • May require some travel.
  • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
