We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our dynamic and growing law firm! This full-time role will provide the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated legal team in a supportive and professional environment. As a paralegal, you will assist attorneys in all aspects of family law cases, including litigation, discovery, trial preparation, and case management.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in family law, with a strong understanding of the legal procedures, documentation, and court filings specific to family law matters. This position requires someone who is adaptable, tech-savvy, and capable of adjusting to the evolving needs of a growing law firm.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Assist in all phases of family law cases including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, property division, and post-judgment modifications.
·Prepare, file, and serve legal documents including pleadings, discovery, petitions, responses, and motions.
·Manage case files, including organizing and maintaining client files and legal documents in both physical and electronic formats.
·Prepare discovery documents, respond to discovery requests, and assist in organizing and reviewing discovery responses.
·Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial briefs.
·Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts, ensuring clients are kept informed and all deadlines are met.
·Monitor case progress and deadlines, ensuring compliance with court orders and deadlines.
·Use legal software and e-filing systems to manage case information, prepare documents, and submit filings.
·Assist with general office tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
·Exceptionally detail-oriented and highly organized, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all aspects of case management, documentation, and correspondence. This includes meticulous tracking of case progress, deadlines, and all necessary filings.
REQUIREMENTS:
·3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in family law.
·Strong understanding of family law procedures, litigation, discovery, trial preparation, and e-filing platforms.
·Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Google Suite, and legal software (Clio Manage, Xspouse, or DissoMaster – a plus).
·Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
·Knowledge of California family law statutes and procedures.
·Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
·Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred but not required.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
·Experience with Clio Manage, Xspouse, or DissoMaster is a plus.
·E-filing experience with California courts and other legal filing platforms.
·Ability to work efficiently in a growing, evolving team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a desk and using a computer.
·Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, fax machine, and phone.
·Ability to perform tasks that require repetitive motions, such as typing and filing documents.
