Job summary

The State Courts System is seeking a General Magistrate Assistant in Tampa to perform clerical and secretarial tasks for a General Magistrate in the Family Law Division. You will handle calls, coordinate hearings, and maintain calendars and filings with discretion.

The role requires high school diploma with two years of related education/experience and proficiency in Word; confidentiality and accuracy are essential in a fast-paced court environment.

Qualifications

  • Answer and direct phone calls; communicate with attorneys and pro se litigants about court procedures.
  • Coordinate and schedule post-judgment Family Law hearings, excluding Title IV-D child support.
  • Maintain filing and calendaring systems for the General Magistrate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence and travel requests for submission and approval.
  • Upload orders to JAWS for signature by the Uniform Family Court Judge.
  • Compile monthly hearing data and submit Uniform Data Reporting as required.
  • Maintain dockets, notes and recusal list; order office supplies.
