Boston Public Schools is seeking a Family Liaison at Trotter Elementary to strengthen family engagement and partnerships with educators. The role focuses on building school-family collaboration, supporting families in navigating district processes, and coordinating engagement activities to improve student outcomes.

The position emphasizes inclusive communication, cultural proficiency, and the development of systems that welcome families as partners in education.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro or WorkKeys.
• At least 3 years of experience with diverse families in urban settings and knowledge of their needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community organizations and social services for families and children in Boston.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the district vision for family and student engagement.
• Assesses family engagement structures and activities.
• Develops an individual work plan with measurable deliverables.
• Responds to concerns from parents with empathy and resolves issues.
• Assists families in navigating the Boston Public Schools system.
• Supports outreach to families about school registration and transportation.
• Refers families to internal or external supports as needed.
• Ensures accessible communication with families in multiple languages.
• Collects and reports data on family engagement outcomes.
• Oversees recruitment and retention of parents for School Parent Council.
• Organizes family engagement events and workshops.
• Ensures compliance with parent involvement requirements.
