Job summary

Holyoke Public Schools seeks a Family Access & Engagement Specialist to strengthen family-school relationships and expand partnerships across two schools. You will support parents in literacy and learning at home, while guiding district-wide strategies to rebuild trust with families.

The role reports to the FSCE Director and works with school leaders, teachers, and community partners to promote parent voice, leadership, and effective communications across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or 2 years of college coursework with 3 years of highly relevant experience in a school, early education or community setting.
• Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Excellent proactive oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and be a self-initiator.
• Demonstrated dedication to family-school partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Identify capacity-building strategies to support family engagement and leadership.
• Support teachers and staff to understand family and community context and resources.
• Design and coordinate family activities and parent workshops, integrating HELI indicators where possible.
• Assist in translating and interpreting parent communications (excluding IEPs).
• Conduct home visits and support school staff in connecting with families.
• Lead community partnerships to strengthen family engagement in early literacy initiatives.
