Job summary

BVCAP Head Start is seeking a dedicated community engagement professional to coordinate family and community activities, provide resources and case management, and act as a liaison among families, staff and community services. You will promote family advocacy and recruit volunteers to support program goals.

The role requires engagement across multiple community programs, documentation of client needs, and ongoing support for families with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field within 18 months of hire.
• Preferred: Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in a related field and 1 year experience with children and adults.
• Preferred: Head Start and/or Health and Human Services experience.
• Family Services Credential must be completed within one year of employment.
• Must have a valid state license.
• CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Position contingent on successful federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains outreach and recruitment to enroll eligible children.
• Encourages parent participation in center-based programs and activities.
• Submits reports to the Family and Community engagement specialist.
• Maintains knowledge of community programs and makes referrals.
• Assists families in utilizing community resources including medical, dental, social, educational, and occupational.
• Maintains documentation of all families and children and emergency information.
• Conducts Family Needs/Goals Assessments for Family Partnership Agreements.
• Recruits, supports, and documents volunteer activities.
• Conducts monthly Parent Meetings with families.
• Conducts family home visits (mandatory and as needed).
• Knows Brazos Valley community programs to provide information and referrals.
• Monitors attendance and contacts families when child is absent two days.
• Provides support to families of children with disabilities.
• Provides information on Special Education services as needed.
• Documents follow-up needs (health, dental, nutrition, growth, hearing, vision).
• Conducts Family Interest Surveys and submits to Nutrition Manager.
• Works with families to ensure required screens and exams are completed.
• Complete refusals within an appropriate timeframe.
• Available for varied working hours to accommodate family schedules.
• Responsibilities may vary by program model, site needs, and locations.

Education

Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field within eighteen months of hire

Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in a related field

Family Services Credential within one year of employment
