Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Program Assistant to support Family Service Specialists and the Head Start/Early Head Start programs. You will assist in governance, family engagement, reporting, and resource mobilization to strengthen families and communities in the LA area.

The role involves training and coordinating with Family Advocates, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and helping manage partnerships and events while ensuring compliance with program requirements.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• TB clearance and immunizations (flu, pertussis, measles) required.
• Health screening at time of employment.
• Ability to interact with children in a busy environment; lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and training to Family Advocates as needed.
• Review documentation for completion and conformity; verify parent volunteer time sheets.
• Compile data, prepare information, and submit reports and administrative forms.
• Coordinate Policy Council and Parent Center Committee meetings and EOM paperwork.
• Coordinate social service area activities and monitor site budgets.
• Assist staff in providing and/or referring families for appropriate services.
• Update site parent center boards with required postings.
• Coordinate parent engagement events and related transportation/logistics.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
