Job summary

Wake County Department of Social Services is seeking a Family & Children Medicaid Supervisor to lead a team of eligibility caseworkers at the Departure Drive location. The role focuses on guiding policy interpretation, team development, and ensuring accurate, timely eligibility determinations across Medicaid programs.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ related experience, with NCFAST knowledge and strong Excel skills highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; three years of job-related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Knowledge of Medicaid policy and NCFAST is preferred.
• Experience in Case Management or supervision within the public sector is a plus.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of job-related experience
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

• Three (3) years of experience in Case Management or two (2) years of team lead experience, or one (1) year of Supervision or Training in Family and Children's Medicaid
• Intermediate to Advanced experience in NCFAST
• Knowledge of Document Management Systems
• Proficiency in MS Excel to create spreadsheets and work within existing spreadsheets
• Current or previous experience working in a state or county Department of Social Services

• Ability to motivate, develop and direct employees as they work
• Expertise in applying complex policy to determine client eligibility, instructing staff in determining eligibility and monitoring eligibility determinations

• Expertise in providing guidance and feedback to help an employee or groups of employees strengthen their knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish a task or solve a problem, which results in improving job performance

• Knowledge of NCFast and document management systems
