Job summary

Wake County Public Health’s Departure Drive Clinic in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in a busy outpatient Women’s Health/Family Planning setting. You will interview, triage, administer vaccines, and support referrals in a multilingual environment.

The role requires CMA certification, six months of related experience, BLS, and the ability to work Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Proficiency with EMR systems, strong communication, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of CMA/CAN II/RMA experience is required.
• Licenses: CNAII, CMA, or RMA recognized by NC Board/USDE/CHEA.
• BLS certification required.
• Equivalent education/experience are NOT accepted.

What You'll Be Doing

Wake County Public Health's Departure Drive Clinic offers low-risk prenatal services and family planning services to Wake County residents regardless of race or economic status. This clinic provide services Monday through Friday. We are currently seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team!

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) has direct patient care in a busy outpatient Women’s Health/Family Planning Clinic with diverse, multilingual patient population.

Responsibilities Include:

• Conduct patient interviews, triage, counseling and teaching related to pre-conception, contraception, prenatal, STDs and other women’s health issues
• Administer vaccinations and assist with simple surgical procedures
• Make patient referrals and do lab result follow-up; precept and supervise nurse aids and students
• Assist with patient check-in/patient phone calls, processing patient accounts and claims, stocking rooms, and ordering supplies
• Clean the work areas as directed by OSHA regulations

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

• High school diploma or GED
• Six months of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), certified nurse's assistant II (CAN II), registered medical assistant (RMA)
• Required Licenses should read: License or certification CNAII, CMA, RMA,by and accredited school recognized by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or United States Department of Education (USDE) or Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

• Medical Assisting Associates Degree or equivalent ( 2 year) Active certification
• Experience in Women's Health, Child’s Health or Public Health
• Spanish language fluency/skills (verbal and written) are highly preferred
• Experience translating Spanish to English in a medical or healthcare environment

• Ability to assess, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining efficient client flow
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Self-directed and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills
• Technical ability to administer injections and vaccines and willingness to learn additional clinical procedures, including autoclave operation and pregnancy testing
• Proficiency with computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment
• Ability to complete required annual CPR and OSHA training
