Job summary

Damar Services, LLC is seeking a Special Events and Volunteer Intern for a 12-week fall internship starting in September. You will gain hands-on experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, and nonprofit operations in Indiana.

Join a mission-driven team, work with the Communications Team, and develop leadership and coaching skills while supporting a wide range of events and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Sophomore standing in college or higher preferred.
  • 1 year of college in a related field such as Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy.
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record meeting eligibility for Damar’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Help with event prep, setup, and teardown for internal events and public events.
  • Assist with fall festival, fundraising and holiday events.
  • Support volunteer activities and create welcoming experiences for volunteers and guests.
  • Lead efforts for events such as Talent Show, golf outings, galas, and community breakfasts.
  • Research event vendors and community opportunities for growth.

About the Damar Internship Program

As a Special Events and Volunteer Intern, you’ll gain hands-on, real-world experience in the field of special events. Our program offers a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in careers in Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy. Throughout this 12-week summer internship, you will work closely with the entire Damar Communications Team, playing a key role in supporting both internal and external volunteers. You’ll collaborate with a team of highly qualified professionals, gaining exposure to our unique client population and learning the ins and outs of event coordination and volunteer management. This internship is more than just an experience — it’s an opportunity for mentorship, leadership development, and coaching. You’ll have the chance to make a meaningful impact, contribute to the success of our clients, and expand your professional network by connecting with other exceptional interns and practicum students who share your career aspirations.

Dependable
  • Consistently arrive to work at scheduled times.
  • Performs duties as assigned.
Active
  • Assist with preparations, along with setup and teardown, for all internal events during the internship including
  • Fall Festival, Trick or Treating, Elf Shopping & Wrapping, and Holly Jolly Holiday Party.
  • Create a welcoming experience for volunteers and support them during volunteer activities.
  • Leading the efforts for our Talent Show event through allocating an initial budget, brainstorming and order décor, creating an event timeline, managing staff volunteers, creating a post-event summary, etc.
  • Assist with event preparation and facilitation for the following public events: Damar Cup Golf Outing,
  • Damar Party Club, and the Difference Maker Breakfast.
  • Support projects for the Damar Gala and other events.
  • Conduct research on event vendors and community opportunities for growth.

What you need to be considered:
  • High school diploma
  • At least sophomore standing in college
  • 1 year of college in a major related to: Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
