Job summary

Damar Services, Inc. invites applications for a Fall Internship: Special Events and Volunteer Intern. Start in September at $12/hour, Indianapolis, Indiana. You’ll gain hands-on experience in events, volunteer management, and nonprofit communications within the Communications Team.

You’ll support event logistics for internal and public events, assist with vendor research, budgeting, setup and teardown, and contribute to a positive, mentor-rich internship experience with leadership development.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Sophomore standing in college
  • 1 year of college in a major related to Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparations, along with setup and teardown, for all internal events during the internship including Fall Festival, Trick or Treating, Elf Shopping & Wrapping, and Holly Jolly Holiday Party.
  • Create a welcoming experience for volunteers and support them during volunteer activities.
  • Leading the efforts for our Talent Show event through allocating an initial budget, brainstorming and order décor, creating an event timeline, managing staff volunteers, creating a post‑event summary, etc.
  • Assist with event preparation and facilitation for the following public events: Damar Cup Golf Outing, Damar Party Club, and the Difference Maker Breakfast.
  • Support projects for the Damar Gala and other events.
  • Conduct research on event vendors and community opportunities for growth.

About The Damar Internship Program

As a Special Events and Volunteer Intern you’ll gain hands‑on, real‑world experience in the field of special events. Our program offers a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in careers in Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy. Throughout this internship, you will work closely with the entire Damar Communications Team, playing a key role in supporting both internal and external volunteers. You’ll collaborate with a team of highly qualified professionals, gaining exposure to our unique client population and learning the ins and outs of event coordination and volunteer management. This internship is more than just an experience — it’s an opportunity for mentorship, leadership development, and coaching. What You Need To Be Considered
  • High school diploma
  • At least sophomore standing in college
  • 1 year of college in a major related to: Events, Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, Volunteer Management, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or Philanthropy
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
