Job summary

SHAWN D BARTLEY AND ASSOCIATES, LLC in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a 2L–3L Fall Law Clerk to join our small, dynamic office. Gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced attorneys in a supportive environment.

You will perform research, draft motions and briefs, attend client meetings, and assist with case preparation. This role offers exposure to a variety of practice areas and opportunities to develop practical legal skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, preferably 2L or 3L.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated commitment to public service and community engagement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in a legal setting is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in legal research and drafting of documents including motions and briefs.
• Attend client meetings and assist with case preparation.
• Review and summarize case files and legal documents.
• Support attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
• Conduct client interviews and gather relevant information.
• Maintain case files and ensure compliance with legal procedures.
• Collaborate with team members on various legal projects.
• Stay updated on legal trends and developments relevant to our practice areas.
