Westfield Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Girls Cross Country Varsity Coach for the Westfield High School Fall 2026 season.

Stipend commensurate with Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract, Appendix B. No benefits.

This position is subject to funding and follows MIAA season dates as well as City of Westfield Board of Health rules and regulations.

Salary: $3,017 to $3,271 Stipend

Qualifications

• Emotional stability

• Knowledge of and ability to teach the theory and practice of the sport for secondary school‑age students
• Emphasis on team play, obedience to rules, good sportsmanship, and sport knowledge
• Consideration for other sports activities in the school
• Ability to work cooperatively with coaching staff and school administrators

Expectations for All Coaches

• Abide by the rules of the school, MIAA, PVIAC, MVADA, and all sport regulations
• Be present from the first tryout day until the last day of the season, with a minimum of five days a week of practice or competition for the team
• Supervise all teams at all times
• Collect all uniforms and equipment from athletes at the end of each season
• Maintain a fair, unbiased relationship with athletes, considering their physical and mental welfare at all times

Required Pre‑Employment Qualifications

• Completed CORI background check
• Fingerprint‑based state and national background check
• Annual NFHS Concussion in Sports certification
• Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or another approved agency (unless a physical disability applies)
• Citizen, resident, or holder of a work visa
