Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking staff to support fall term classrooms in the Fall Break Learning Academy. The role assists teachers, prepares instructional materials, and helps supervise students during various activities to ensure a well-organized classroom environment.

Ideal candidates have an Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college, and CPR/First Aid certification. Experience with children in educational settings is preferred; commitment for the entire Fall Break period is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree or two years of college (min. 48 semester hours) or passing ParaPro.
• Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Currently working in SCS as an Educational Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists fall school teachers in maintaining a well-organized classroom during fall term.
• Assists students during fall school with exercises and activities; works with small groups or individuals as needed.
• Prepares instructional materials and organizes classrooms for instruction.
• Supervises students in corridors, buses, field trips, lunch, and other school areas.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• May coordinate special programs or projects as assigned.
