Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking coaches for Fall Athletic Coaching Positions for the 2026-2027 school year at Bulkeley High School in Hartford, Connecticut. This role requires a focus on the ongoing development of student-athletes in various sports.

Ideal candidates will have at least three years of coaching experience, a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, and hold necessary certifications. The positions are part-time, with salaries based on the HFT contract.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Coaching Permit issued by the CT State Department of Education.
• Valid First Aid & CPR certification required.
• Current Concussion Training or Refresher Course (Module 15) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing development and improvement of coaching for student-athletes.
• Help each student achieve a high level of skill and sportsmanship.
• Coordinate planning, evaluation, and implementation of programs.

Skills

Ability to establish written rules and regulation

Ability to enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior

Ability to coach individual participants

Ability to plan and schedule practices

Ability to work closely with Supervisor in scheduling contests

Ability to recommend purchase of equipment

Ability to maintain necessary paperwork

Ability to oversee safety conditions

Ability to provide orderly distribution of athletic equipment

Three years successful coaching experience

Successful experience in urban setting

Excellent leadership skills

Excellent communication skills

Knowledge of regulations regarding coaching

Experience with CIAC and NFHS regulations

Education

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
