Job summary

James River Equipment, in partnership with Wake Tech Community College, invites applicants for the Fall 2027 JD Tech Program. This John Deere Sponsored Technician program blends classroom study with hands-on, on-the-job training at a sponsoring dealership in the Wake Tech region.

Sponsored technicians earn an hourly wage and receive tools and uniforms as part of a paid internship that leads to full-time mechanic positions.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude assessment required.
• In-person interview will be required at the James River Equipment branch closest to home base.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a sponsored technician intern at a sponsoring dealership.
• Attend classes in person part of the week and work as an apprentice technician.
• Tuition reimbursement is provided after completing degree requirements.

* Accepting applications for Fall 2027 JD Tech Program *Partner with James River Equipment at Wake Tech Community College as a John Deere Sponsored TechnicianThis program is a supervised work experience that accompanies a two-year Associate of Applied Science program through Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, NC. The courses provide a John Deere-based curriculum of both classroom and lecture and laboratory experiences. Sponsored technicians in the program choose between either:Agricultural Equipment Mechanic ProgramConstruction & Forestry Mechanic ProgramOn-the-job training at a sponsoring dealership is a requirement of enrollment for this two-year program. Students attend classes in person part of the week and work as apprentice technicians at their home James River Equipment location outside of class/lecture/lab times. Sponsored technician positions are paid internships, and sponsored technicians are provided tools in addition to uniforms by James River Equipment.Sponsored John Deere Techs continue into full-time mechanic positions with James River Equipment upon successful completion of training and degree requirements. Tuition is reimbursed incrementally once in a full-time mechanic position with James River Equipment.Requirements Include:High school students interested in a John Deere technician degree are encouraged to submit an application.
