Job summary

City Rescue Mission of Lansing is seeking a Shelter Manager to oversee a Single Adult Shelter, training staff, managing guest tracking, and coordinating with the Director to deliver consistent services aligned with the mission of Food, Shelter, and Hope.

The role requires organizing daily operations, resolving guest concerns, and ensuring staff performance while maintaining faith-led care for guests and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of management/supervisory experience required.
• 1+ year Shelter/Non-Profit experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on training for all new shelter staff.
• Train staff on guest tracking software.
• Collaborate with caseworker on guest life and discipline.
• Work with Shelter Director to ensure consistent processes.
• Complete administrative tasks as assigned by Shelter Director.
• Assist Director with employee performance management.
• Ensure staff meet expectations; escalate issues to Director.
• Maintain a smoothly run shelter aligned with Food, Shelter, and Hope.
• Maintain effective communication using all available tools.
• Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Share the gospel, teach in chapel, and pray with guests.
