Job summary

Marion County Public Health Department seeks a health educator to serve as the primary liaison between faith communities and public health initiatives. The role focuses on recruiting churches for faith-based HIV prevention activities, delivering HIV/STD counseling and testing, and promoting the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative across diverse faith and community groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, Social Services, or related field, or one year of direct HIV/AIDS service experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide referrals to those at high-risk HIV negative to the PrEP navigator and offer referrals to other supportive services.
• Document all participant interventions per MCPHD policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with faith-based and community agencies to reduce barriers to wellness and increase access to care.
• Establish relationships with faith-based and community organizations to coordinate counseling, testing and referral services.
• Maintain documentation and records, including participant data, location information, and daily activities.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Participate in public health emergency preparedness exercises and in response to public health emergencies.
• Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually.
• Employee may be asked to perform other duties as needed to support departmental goals.
